From the Principal
Greetings Staff, Parents, and Community,
As we conclude the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year, I want to say "THANK YOU" for being strong supporters of our students and staff. While our winter break will occur soon, I want to remind you of the importance of staying healthy while still learning at home. Here are a few ways to help now and during the year:
During the second semester of the school year, we will continue our efforts to improve student achievement. Accelerating student achievement is our priority, and our teachers and support staff have been diligently working all year to prepare our children for various assessments. In addition, we are constantly reflecting and refining our instructional practices to be the best we can for each one of our students, and to ensure all students are equipped with the necessary knowledge to excel at high levels. We are committed to ensuring all students are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to stay engaged, resilient and reflective for challenges ahead. Being engaged, resilient and reflective are our core learning dispositions that we expect all students to use at home and in school.
We highly encourage and expect parents and community members to be engaged in our school as partners in educating our students. Parents and community members can join our Parent Teacher Organization yearly. Our PTO does an excellent job supporting the students and staff at Arden Elementary. Also, parents have an opportunity to participate in the School Improvement Council and Title One Committee.
Our doors are always open and you are always welcome. Again, I am grateful to be a part of this awesome staff, school and community. We will continue to be “One Community.....Every Student A Powerful Learner!" If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school. I can be reached at timothy.blackwell@richlandone.org or 803.735.3400.
Sincerely,
Dr. Blackwell, Principal

Beagle Character Trait
Children who learn character traits have better success in relationships both at school and outside of school. They learn to be more forgiving, responsible, caring, and compassionate. They also learn how to cope with others, to tolerate different viewpoints, and to respect the needs of others.
February’s Character Trait is Caring: to demonstrate concern through kindness and acceptance while meeting the needs of self and others.

"We Can Read" Home School Literacy Initiative
Arden Elementary and Title I have teamed up to provide families with books parents and students can read together to support Family Literacy. Research shows that children surrounded by print materials are better readers and more successful in school. Please take advantage of this program by contacting the school for books you can enjoy with your student(s). Don't forget your Reading Log also.
Parents, will your child be attending Arden Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year? If so, you must complete the Returning Student Enrollment Verification. The online vehicle for re-enrollment is Power School.
